Testicular Cancer Awareness
Awareness
Signs and symptoms of testicular cancer and how to check themselves should be something all men know. A simple monthly check is all it takes and it really could be life saving. Just remember, check after a bath or shower.
Information Packs

We are always looking for places throughout East Anglia to display our information.
Our FREE Information packs contain a selection of leaflets, posters and information about testicular cancer and also the services that we offer. If you would like to order one for your workplace, sports centre, social club etc or want to share with family, friends and colleagues then please order a FREE pack via our online shop HERE.
Education
Because testicular cancer predominates in the 15 – 35 age group (not excluding older and younger men), we visit schools, colleges and universities to raise awareness amongst students and staff. We encourage all young men to get into the routine of regular checking throughout their life. Our awareness presentation is suitable for a mixed gender audience and lasts 30 – 45 minutes although we can adapt it to suit different group requirements. Please contact us if you would like one of our team members to come and talk to your students / group.
Our awareness resources are now available to download directly from the TES website – these include everything needed to deliver a standalone Testicular Cancer lesson or workshop, and include a lesson plan, Powerpoint, simple quiz and information leaflets etc. If you are a teacher and use our resources then please rate them on the TES website and give us any feedback you may have.
We have recently added teaching resources designed specifically for students and young adults with Special Educational Needs. All of our video content is subtitled to aid accessibility. The Deaf Aid Charity, SignHealth have also produced a range of Testicular Cancer video’s with BSL interpretation which can be found on their website.
Awareness Talk Testimonials
- “You [presenter] spoke with such sincerity, knowledge and care that the young men in the audience couldn’t fail to be moved by what they heard. They were also empowered to answer questions by the engaging style of the presentation and the calm atmosphere you created. It was a simply fantastic day.” (Year 10 Form Tutor).
- “Mine [Year 10 Students] found it really informative and wouldn’t change anything really. They liked that it was light hearted, found it difficult to listen to [presenters] experiences (but recognised that it was beneficial to hear).” (Year 10 Tutor).
- “Really informative, learned a lot, feel like they [Year 10 Students] are now able to recognise symptoms and know what to do, enjoyed the practical element of it, enjoyed the song, liked [your presenter], felt comfortable asking questions afterwards, definitely learnt the catchphrases!” (Year 10 Tutor).
Workplace
We also visit local businesses and places of work to talk to staff about testicular cancer signs and symptoms and how to check themselves. If you would like us to talk to your team, please email info@itsontheball.org
About Our Talks
Our awareness talks consists of a Powerpoint presentation which will include some video content and will be delivered by a member of the charity who has had personal experience of Testicular Cancer. It is interesting and informative, and although a serious subject, it will be light-hearted at times. There will also be the opportunity for interaction including checking our false testicles! (We can provide AV equipment if there are none on site).
We encourage all genders to attend, and the presentation is suitable for 14 year olds (Yr 9), and upwards. The presentation lasts 30 to 45 minutes and can be tailored to suit individual needs. We also offer to deliver the talks at events and as a ‘guest speaker’ further details of this service can be found here (With thanks to Public Speakers Corner)
Further Afield
We are a small charity and only have the resources to cover East Anglia. However, we will consider travelling further afield providing travel costs can be met.
There are similar organisations across the UK and around the world who are helping to raise awareness and support those affected by testicular cancer.
We hope that within the list below, you will find a charity or an advocate that you can connect with and find the help you are looking for.
In The UK:
Testicular Cancer Network (TCN) Members:
Baggy Trousers UK is a cancer charity based in the North West of England, it was founded by Jack Broadley in 2014. After going through his own experience of testicular cancer at the age of 21, Jack decided to take on this challenge to embark on a journey that would inspire him to helping others that have been affected by the illness that he’d once had. Jack felt an inherent urge to make a difference in the lives of males affected by testicular cancer and that, with the charity being run by a survivor, he could get the message across to others by the telling of his experience.
Cahonas Scotland is a Scottish charity dedicated to raising awareness about testicular cancer. “We’re here to shout the benefits of education and self-checks! Early detection means more effective treatment. Regular checks are important for every man you know. And every man needs to know what to look for. You’ll find us doing our work at schools, colleges, community hubs and events. We want to get everyone talking — and checking!”
